We are excited to announce that the Blugold Seminar has won the Writing Program Certificate of Excellence from the Conference on College Composition and Communication (the main professional organization for Rhetoric & Composition, and the college affiliate group of NCTE).
The Certificate of Excellence recognizes only a handful of writing programs each year that demonstrate a commitment to innovative curricula, exemplary professional development, effective assessment, and contributions to composition research, among other things. From the many applications received this year, the Blugold Seminar was identified as an exemplar: this year’s CCCC Chair, Chris Anson, wrote in his announcement, “The Selection Committee was impressed by the Blugold Seminar that these innovations took place at an institutional level, that tenure-stream faculty teach first-year composition, and that undergraduates are involved with the program assessment. Additionally, this programmatic revision lowered class size, installed a new curriculum, and offers a nice assessment process, all with broad support from across the university.”
We will receive formal recognition for this award at CCCC in Indianapolis this April. For more information about the Writing Program Certificate of Excellence, please see http://www.ncte.org/cccc/awards/writingprogramcert.
